    Siesta Key, FL

What We Did While staying in Orlando, we did a day trip to Siesta Key. Growing up we visited Siesta Key often. It was so fun to be able to visit again. We packed picnics and drove the 2.5 hours to Siesta Key from Orlando. We parked at the Siesta Key main beach parking lot, because we wanted to have access to restrooms and showers. We ate our picnic lunches in the parking lot and then hit the beach. This beach is beautiful.  It is so wide!  The sand is powdery white. We spent several hours playing, swimming, and relaxing on the beach. Where We Stayed This visit was a…

    Crayola Experience, Orlando FL

Our first day in Florida we visited the Crayola Experience. It is a fun place to visit with multiple activities inside.  There is a general admission cost to get in and a couple of optional add on experiences. It worked well for our large, multi-generational travel group. There were plenty of places to sit and rest as needed, but also an active play area for younger kids. And who doesn’t enjoy coloring and creating with Crayola products?! One of the first activities we did was to label our own crayons. With your admission you receive a few coins.  One of the uses of these coins is to label your own…

    Dance Performance & Coronado Resort – 10.21.22

Friday, October 21st was the day of the girls’ dance performance at Disney Springs. We also fit in some fun around the resort! We started the day getting our girls fed and dressed for their performance.  Once they boarded their bus at Coronado to be taken to their performance, my husband and I got on a bus to Disney Springs. We arrived well before the performance, but wanted to be sure to have plenty of time for buses. We visited Erin McKenna’s bakery before the show to gather some gluten and dairy free snacks for our room. Then we headed over to the stage and found seats. Our girls’ group’s…

    Duckpin Bowling Fountain Square

In March, 2022 we visited a local place I had wanted to see for a long time.  We went duckpin bowling at the Fountain Square Theatre in Indianapolis! Duckpin bowling is like typical bowling except the balls are much smaller and lighter. The balls are more like the size of a large grapefruit than a typical bowling ball. This makes it easier for kids or people who may struggle managing an 8 pound or heavier bowling ball. They had two different places for bowling.  At the time of our visit one was in use for a corporate event. The area where we were bowling has a very retro feel. It…

    Newfields

The museum and grounds that used to be called Indianapolis Museum of Art is now called Newfields.  This is a great place to spend a day any time of year, but especially when weather is nice for being outside. There is a main building, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, which contains a nice art museum. It contains many different exhibit areas with art pieces. Many eras, artists, and mediums are represented. There are areas dedicated to American art, European art, Asian art, Decorative art, Native American art, and African art. There are rotating exhibits that showcase other art styles and pieces. The Star Studio has hands on activities for kids.…
