Our first day in Florida we visited the Crayola Experience. It is a fun place to visit with multiple activities inside. There is a general admission cost to get in and a couple of optional add on experiences. It worked well for our large, multi-generational travel group. There were plenty of places to sit and rest as needed, but also an active play area for younger kids. And who doesn’t enjoy coloring and creating with Crayola products?!
One of the first activities we did was to label our own crayons. With your admission you receive a few coins. One of the uses of these coins is to label your own crayon. You choose from a handful of crayon colors and name your crayon. The label is printed and you use a special device to put the label on your crayon. The special crayon with your name on the Crayola label makes a great souvenir.
A side room is dedicated to Scribble Scrubbies. With one of your coins, each person get a scrubbie. There are tables and markers for coloring your scrubbie. Then you can use the sinks & dryers to clean the scrubbie so you can color it again.
Other areas include plenty of crayola crayons for coloring and ipads for screen based art. Crayola also offers several cute photo ops. Multiple displays are the building share interesting information about Crayola and the history of the company and their famous crayons. You can choose to use your coin to get a pack of model magic. Tables and tools are available for creating with your model magic right there.
A couple shows are offered a couple times daily. We saw one that explained how Crayola crayons are made. There is some factory equipment in the room to see and a video shows the actual factory doing those same processes.
Don’t miss the gift shop! It is very cute and has a wide variety of Crayola items. There is a whole wall of crayons and markers in all colors that you can choose from to fill a container for creating at home!
Our group ranged from 2 years old to 77 years old, including kids of various ages and teens. I think the target audience is probably about 2-10 years old, but our whole group had fun. It is a nice option for a rainy or hot day because everything is inside. This was a second visit for most of us. We were there about 4 hours and were happy with that length of time.
