Trip Notes

Siesta Key, FL

What We Did

While staying in Orlando, we did a day trip to Siesta Key. Growing up we visited Siesta Key often. It was so fun to be able to visit again. We packed picnics and drove the 2.5 hours to Siesta Key from Orlando. We parked at the Siesta Key main beach parking lot, because we wanted to have access to restrooms and showers. We ate our picnic lunches in the parking lot and then hit the beach. This beach is beautiful.  It is so wide!  The sand is powdery white. We spent several hours playing, swimming, and relaxing on the beach.

Where We Stayed

This visit was a daytrip from the house we had rented in Orlando, so we had no local accommodations this time.  On past visits we have enjoyed The Capri & Captiva Beach Resort if you are looking for a good place to stay on Siesta Key that is close to the beach and value priced.

Where We Ate

We had dinner at Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar. This restaurant was our dinner choice because we remembered it from years ago. There is an outdoor patio for dining. Sitting outside watching birds and boats on the intercoastal waterway seems like the perfect Siesta Key dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meal here.  They offered many seafood choices as well as alligator, delicious chicken, and a kid’s pasta just perfect for a 5 year old. The staff was able to help us figure out meal options for our food allergy kids.
