Friday, October 21st was the day of the girls’ dance performance at Disney Springs. We also fit in some fun around the resort!
We started the day getting our girls fed and dressed for their performance. Once they boarded their bus at Coronado to be taken to their performance, my husband and I got on a bus to Disney Springs. We arrived well before the performance, but wanted to be sure to have plenty of time for buses. We visited Erin McKenna’s bakery before the show to gather some gluten and dairy free snacks for our room. Then we headed over to the stage and found seats. Our girls’ group’s performance was awesome. After they were finished we headed back to the bus and back to the Coronado to meet up with them.
We spent the afternoon relaxing at the Dig Site pool. The pool and the water slide are fun and beautiful. We also looked at the splash area. There were pool games around the pool in the afternoon. I know the kids did some bingo and some trivia. There was also music.
After dinner we went back to the pool and hot tub for another swim. It was a chilly night, so we didn’t last too long. It was still fun to visit the pool at night. After the dig site, my younger daughter wanted to also swim in the quiet pool in the casitas area. She was the only one in the pool and we could see fireworks from a park low in the sky from the quiet pool.
What We Ate
This morning breakfast was at El Mercado again. It worked well for us. By this time I had learned how to order the allergy meal and coordinate that with getting the rest of our meals. It took about 7-10 minutes longer than our friends who were ordering food through the regular process, but it was great to be able to get safe food for our daughter.
Lunch today was at the pool bar by the dig site pool, Siestas. This did not work so well. We had checked the menu in the app before we dressed for the pool and went out there to verify there were options for everyone. Our first thought allergy meal option had unsuspected gluten in it. They were out of our second and third choices. We found a small snack that worked to get us through the afternoon. The menu was limited and they were not set up to handle food allergies. Those who do not have restrictions were able to find something they enjoyed. It is convenient to eat lunch pool side.
At dinner we decided to try something different. By this point the allergy options at El Mercado and the other counter service places were becoming repetitive. We chose to eat at Rix Sports Bar at the Coronado for some different choices. It was a nice meal. We enjoyed the table service meal out. Everyone found good food. They had some choices for gluten free and dairy free and were prepared to handle food allergies. We would eat here again.
We had also picked up some baked goods from Erin McKenna’s bakery at Disney Springs this morning. Everything in the bakery is gluten and dairy free as well as free from several other allergens. Our kids were with their dance group, so we chose a few things. Our daughter with the gluten and dairy allergy loved everything we got. She enjoyed having a donut, muffin, or pumpkin bread in the room for breakfast or a treat.
Where We Stayed
At this time in our trip we were still at Disney’s Coronado Resort and loving it. Here are a few more pictures.
